Advancing supply-chain resource efficiency through factory-level assessment and practical energy solutions
The Nordic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) engaged Engineering Resources International (ERI) to undertake the 3E – Energy Efficiency Engagement Programme, an initiative designed to promote energy and resource efficiency within the supply chains of companies operating in Bangladesh.
As part of the programme, ERI worked with Chorka Limited, a concern of PRAN-RFL Group, to assess factory operations and identify practical opportunities for improving energy performance, reducing resource consumption, and strengthening operational efficiency.
The engagement combined technical assessment, performance analysis, and opportunity identification to understand how energy and other resources were being consumed across the facility. Rather than considering energy efficiency as a stand-alone engineering exercise, the assessment examined the relationship between utility systems, production processes, operating practices, and resource productivity.
ERI’s technical team reviewed key energy-consuming systems and operational areas, analysed available consumption and performance data, and identified opportunities for efficiency improvement. Recommendations were developed with consideration for technical feasibility, potential resource and cost savings, operational practicality, and implementation requirements.
The programme focused on translating assessment findings into actionable resource-efficiency measures, enabling the participating factory to prioritise interventions and progressively improve its environmental and operational performance.
Through the 3E programme, ERI supported the participating facility in developing a clearer understanding of its energy-use profile and opportunities to reduce avoidable losses. The engagement helped establish a practical pathway from measurement and assessment to opportunity identification and implementation planning.
The project also demonstrated how industry associations and chambers of commerce can engage businesses and their supply chains in resource-efficiency initiatives, helping translate sustainability objectives into tangible factory-level improvements.
By connecting business engagement with technical expertise, the 3E programme contributed to building awareness, strengthening internal capacity, and encouraging more efficient and responsible use of resources within Bangladesh’s industrial sector.
